Recently, the China Automotive Engineering Society and China Fire Protection Association jointly held a seminar on fire safety of electric vehicles in Beijing. They launched the strategic cooperation research in the field of automotive fire safety, and put the research on fire safety into the working schedule.

Fire safety of electric vehicles is particularly important

The output of automobiles in China has increased rapidly. In 2002, the annual output of cars in China was only 300. But by 2012, the annual output of cars has exceeded 19 million, which is nearly 6 times higher than that of ten years ago. At the same time, the quality of the car has been exposed. According to the data, from 2008 to 2012, there are more than 10 thousand car fire accidents in China. In 2012, it has reached 14091 cases, with a daily average of 39. This is a new high this year. This shows that the situation of automobile fire is very serious in China. In response, Wu Zhixin, deputy director of China Automotive Technology Research Center, expressed his high approval: "electric vehicle as a new industry, it is more important to ensure its fire safety."
